Life is hard. Difficulties abound. Scientific research tells us we are evolutionarily biased to notice the troubles. This attention keeps us ever on the lookout for danger, bobbing and weaving our way through life, fighting and fleeing. But new evidenced-based research, from the field of positive psychology, reminds us not to overlook our strengths and the gifts that surround us. Good things abound too! We are learning that becoming more aware of the many gifts in our lives can promote improvements in our physical, mental and emotional health, enable us to access untapped potential and resources, and enrich the experience of each day of our lives. As a result, you may learn to fight and flee a little less and to see and be a little more. In this course, you will learn to: develop a basic understanding of “mindfulness”; use mindful breathing and intention setting; increase self-awareness; monitor the dimensions of a well-balanced life; discover unique strengths in yourself and others; find the gifts in difficult situations; journal your experience; and use deeper self-knowledge to live a richer life. Bring a notebook and pen to class.

Coordinator: Debra Morin
Debra has completed certifications in Mindfulness-Based Strength Practice coaching, Positive Psychology, Integrative Wellness Coaching and Emotional Intelligence. Before fully retiring last year, she enjoyed a fulfilling career as an IT professional and management consultant. The strategic nature of her role often led to stressful client engagements, as significant change was always on the agenda. In an effort to create an environment primed for success, Debra often delivered workshops and mini-events focused on identifying and leveraging the strengths of the people and businesses involved. It helped!
