To Be or Not to Bop: Bebop and Progressive Jazz

ALL1516-C       First 6 Weeks        Wednesday 9:00-10:20       Start Date 16-Sep
Grossman  106      Limit 25

This course will examine a style of jazz called bebop which was popular during the 1950’s and ’60s, which eventually lead to a progressive jazz movement known as fusion. We will meet many musicians and groups that defined these styles and listen to many compositions that are/were popular from my personal extensive collection. Jazz music can be complex, but many of these works can be both enjoyable and interesting.
