This course will take a look at some western films that are considered the greatest ever made and some of my favorites as well. This particular genre has been around for a long time and is still going strong. We will look at clips from many wonderful films and also consider some of the great actors who were known for their westerns. We will also discuss why we think these films deserve the praise they have received from critics and audiences over time. We will start with John Wayne’s classic Stagecoach (1939), the film that made him a star.
